About Us

Connecting Dots 4 Kids was established in 2017 in Brisbane, Queensland, providing specialized Occupational Therapy services to a large, medical and allied health business. In 2020, we returned to our home state of South Australia to set up a boutique business providing local face-to-face OT services as well as telehealth and training to families and communities across Australia.

Our Mission

Our mission is for children to thrive by helping them to regulate, relate and function in their everyday environments. We are a child and family-centred service using neuroscience and a trauma-informed lens to help children play, learn, love and connect.

Emma is a highly trained and experienced Occupational Therapist working in multiple paediatric roles since graduating from the University of South Australia in 2001.  She is also has recent lived experience of raising family with neurospicy profiles.  Emma has worked in health and disability roles in the government sector as well as private practice and not-for-profit organisations across multiple Australian states.  She has lots of experience working alongside other allied health and medical specialists where she has provided assessment and recommendations to assist with diagnosis.  Emma also has delivered individual, group and key-worker style therapy in both clinic and community settings. Some of Emma's favourite therapy modalities are the DIR/Floortime model (level 2 training), SOS feeding interventions, the Co-Op approach for motor skills development, model of engagement and the interoception curriculum for regulation development, as well as having a passion for helping children with toileting issues and sleep problems.  Emma loves and understands the unique needs of working with neurodiverse children (i.e. diagnoses of ASD, ADHD, anxiety, learning disorders, OCD, etc) and their families.  She values working closely with families to help them understand their child's developmental profile so they can feel empowered to help their child set and achieve goals in their everyday interactions.  She knows that all families are unique and that therapy needs to be individualized as well as informed by research.  Emma values building relationships in the therapy context and highly values the contribution of all those who know and work with a child.  She strongly believes in open communication between parents and therapists to maximize the therapy experience for a child.

Emma believes strongly in life-long learning and regularly engages in professional development to keep her skills and knowledge up to date with the latest research.  She has presented at many childcare centres, conferences and to teacher groups on a range of topics from supporting young children with ASD to sensory processing, developing toileting skills to fine motor skills and handwriting.

Outside of work, Emma is a Mum to two amazing children.  She credits much of her learning over the past decade to the experiences she has gained not only from professional training but from the day-to-day experiences she has with her own unique children as they grow.  On weekends, Emma enjoys trips to the beach for fish and chips, a bush walk with her dog and BBQs with friends.
